Watch: Hintayan ng Langit Full Trailer, 2018 QCinema International Film Festival Official Entry (Video)

Hintayan ng Langit stars veteran actors Eddie Garcia and Gina Pareño as ex-lovers who passed away and met each other again at purgatory while waiting for the decision for their final destination. Weird but intriguing, this indie film is based on the one-act play by Juan Miguel Severo and directed by Dan Villegas and is an official entry to the 2018 QCinema International Film Festival (QCIFF). Produced by GlobeStudios and Project 8 Corner San Joaquin Projects, this Pinoy indie film features Eddie Garcia as Manolo and Gina Pareño as Lisang. They were former lovers but ended up marrying different partners. Lisang died two years ago and is now at the “Kalagitnaan” while Manolo has just arrived and the two saw each other again. Manolo said still has a pending case but Lisang joked that he should directly go to the Basement.

While at the waiting room, Manolo and Lisang were able to talk about their past and even their old arguments when they still a couple. Apparently, the “Kalagitnaan” appears to be like a nursing home for the elderly with some attendants and amenities such as bar and restaurant, and a support group where they can learn how to let go of the people they left behind. The trailer ends by announcing that Lisang will finally go to heaven.

Interestingly, Hintayan ng Langit is only one of the six entries to the year’s QCinema International Film Festival, which will be held from October 21 to 30 at Gateway Mall, Robinsons Galleria, SM City North EDSA, SM Megamall, SM Manila, SM Mall of Asia, Trinoma, and UP Town Center. The five other entries are “Billie & Emma” by Samantha Lee; “Dog Days” by Timmy Harn; “Masla A Papanok” by Gutierrez Mangansakan; and “Oda sa Wala” by Dwein Baltazar.
